Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Chandigarh
After arriving in Chandigarh, assemble at the pick-up point and meet our representative, who will give you
an orientation about the entire tour. Listen to the instructions carefully and abide by it throughout the entire
trek. You can even buy supplies from this city for the road trip, or any gear you have forgotten to carry. The
city has enough markets to cater to your essential needs.
Day 2: Chandigarh to Narkanda (180 km | 5-6 hrs | 8,891 ft)
In the morning, the tour begins from Chandigarh, from where you drive to Narkanda. Situated at an altitude
of almost 9000 feet, Narkanda commands majestic views of the snow line. This destination is also a
favourite for thrill seekers, who want to try skiing or trekking. On reaching the destination, seek pleasure
within the nature and check-in at the hotel. Then head-out to explore your surroundings while at night enjoy
the sumptuous dinner, and then sleep peacefully surrounded by nature.
Day 3: Narkanda to Sangla (160 km | 7-8 hrs | 8,900 ft)
After freshening up in the morning, you will be served with a flavoursome breakfast, post which embark on
a 160-km road trip to Sangla. A small town on the banks of the Baspa River, Sangla is a picturesque and
serene place. Many restaurants, cafes and accommodation options make it an apt stop on the way to the
Spiti Valley. Spend the night at the campsite, under the starlit Ladakhi sky. At night, you will be served with
dinner, post which you can either lie down under the sparkling sky or indulge in some conversation with
your friends or family.
Day 4: Sangla to Kalpa (50 km | 2-3 hrs | 9,711 ft)
Wake up early morning to a beautiful view of the Kinner Kailash peaks. Post breakfast, today you will
continue your journey with a drive to the village of Kalpa. The route will keep you hooked as the
treacherous pin-bend turns and the amazing beauty will captivate your attention. When you arrive at Kalpa,
check-in at your hotel, and after keeping your belongings, head out to visit the Old Shiva Temple and the
Kalpa Monastery. Later in the evening, enjoy the lip-smacking meal and your stay at the hotel.
Day 5: Kalpa to Kaza (210 km | 6-7 hrs | 12,467 ft)
Today post breakfast, you will check out an early and depart for Kaza, leaving behind verdant forests and
green mountains as you go over the tree line towards the Spiti region. On the way, visit the striking Nako
Lake, where the terrain will leave you perplexed with its natural splendour. You will encounter Rock-hard
Desert Mountains, pounding rivers and icy cold winds. On reaching Kaza, check in the hotel to keep your
belongings. After a little rest, evening awaits for utmost leisure. At night you will be served with dinner, post
which sleep in the lap of nature.
Day 6: Rest and Sightseeing around Kaza
After having breakfast set out on an excursion to Langza and Komik, small villages in the heart of Spiti
Valley, known for the fossil reserves of marine creatures. These fossils date back to millions of years when
the whole region was submerged under the Tethys Sea. Komik is one of the highest villages in Asia. It has
only a few houses, and the major highlight of this place is its monastery. If you want, you can also drive to
the small Hikkim village with its famous post office. While here, you can send some postcards to your
family, telling them about this amazing Spiti self-drive adventure trip. After lunch, pay a visit to Ki Monastery
– the biggest Buddhist learning centre in the Spiti Valley. Originally built in the 11th century, the gompa was
once home to about 350 lamas. Also, visit Kibber, famed as the highest village in the world. Thereafter,
retreat to the hotel in Kaza and enjoy a good night’s sleep.
Day 7: Kaza to Sarahan (271 km |7-8 hrs | 6,890 ft)
Today morning, post breakfast, you will head towards the village of Saharan that has buildings made of
wood and topped by concave sloping roofs. The Chinese Buddhist influence on the architecture makes this
place a perfect overnight spot. On reaching, check-in at the hotel, keep your belongings and get freshen up
to explore the nearby surroundings. You can also visit Bhimakali temple, and night indulge in the
wholesome meal, post which sleep within the nature or spend the time at your own leisure.
Day 8: Sarahan to Chandigarh (274 km | 8-9 hrs | 1,053 ft)
Today morning, post breakfast, you will head back to Chandigarh as your amazing trip will come to an end.
On reaching, spend the rest of the time at your own leisure.
